It's a psychological thriller, and un-doubtably the most intense film I have seen in a while. Natalie Portman is perfection. Her dance training worked beautifully and I believed her as a ballet dancer. Unlike her co-star Mila Kunis who should have had a double come in for her weak hands. Made her look unbelievable and awful as a dancer, but other than that she was great. (those hands were giving me problems though)
You find Nina Sayers (Portman) a nearly flawless perfectionist, having a battle with the other side of her persona who is fighting to shine. The film is intense when Nina cannot differentiate whats real and her own psychological warfare. I had a hard time determining what was real myself. Nina's mother, dance company director, and other competing dancers made for even more tense situations for Nina. Wynona Ryder had a small part in the film. Nice to see her back to acting, instead of continuing her life of crime :). If this movie is playing in your area, it is definitely a must see...A+!
