Movies in Review: "Wall Street 2"

Hmmmmm...what to say what to say. I first would like to say that I feel that they began showing the trailor for this film waaaaayyy too early. When you create such anticipation like that you better be able to deliver something that is almost perfection. Unfortunately this film was not. It moved kind of slow. But I think that had alot to do with all the wall street lingo that was in the movie. As a regular, not so savvy wall street individual, the lingo almost took me completely out of the movie. All I kept hearing them talk about was "bubbles"...ummmmm...can anyone tell me what bubbles are? I was lost. What kept me in the movie was that outside of the lingo, there was actually a decent story. Loved Carey Mulligan, and Shia LeBouf actually seemed serious and sincere, and I enjoyed it. The story was decent, just nothing super exciting. If you've seen the first one and must see the sequal, I'd advise a matinee, or DVD. I'd have to give it a C+, just because I feel they did not keep the "average" person in mind with all that confusing "wall street" mayhem :/

Movies in Review: "You Again"

This movie is a case of "they showed the best parts in the trailor" :/. Unfortunately outside of what was in the trailor, this movie did not offer much else. The same funny scenes that catch your attention in the trailor are about the only ones offered in the movie, except they edited some of those, which caused the scenes to be even less funny. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with the acting. The movie just did not have that much to offer, as far as a comedy is concerned. The plot was predictable, and quite frankly dull, I was expecting so much more. I guess it would have been better if the film was actually funny. As much as I love her, and as funny as she is, even Betty White could not save this film. This film just looked like a case of bad, and over editing. Case in point, the end scene with Betty and her rival...I'm sure that scene was alot more humorous while filming than it was in the film, but the editing just made that scene fall flat...I was like OMG are u serious. This movie gets a C-, just for a great cast, but a D for not being able to capitalize by providing a decent comedy...Boooooo!!!

Movies in Review: "The Town"

Coming in at #1 at the Box office, and rightfully so. This is Ben Affleck's 2nd directorial debut, and I must say, I have yet to be disappointed. I actually think he may be a better director than an actor, although I thoroughlyenjoyed his performance here. I believed him as a tough Bostonian. It worked...and I loved it! The whole romance between Ben's character and the hostage made the movie a yawner at some points, but there was enough provided elsewhere to keep the movie going. Jeremy Renner's character created the most spice. I appreciate Blake Lively for really being able to fully step into her character and make me believe it. It was crazy because some of the film kinda reminded me of a white boy version of  "Set it Off", especially towards the end. I give this movie an -A...enough said, just go see it.

Movies in Review: "Easy A"

Can you say Hilarious! Coming in 2nd at the box office it's opening week. This movie made me not miss high school at all! How teenagers are having to deal with the pressure from their peers, that they feel they have to lie about sex...teenagers are dealing with bullies because of their sexuality, that they feel they have to lie about sex...teenagers want to upgrade their "status" in school, so they feel they have to lie about sex...with Emma Stones character being the focal point of all of this. The "sex" scene with the gay best friend...absolutely hilarious, and my favorite scene of the movie. Gotta love her parents with the adopted black kid...hilarious! The cool high school teacher who you wish you had a class with in high school...hilarious. The battles between Emma and Amanda Bynes was also hilarious...but can someone tell me why Amanda Bynes looked like she got stung by a bumble bee (I'm just sayin...lol). Overall, it was written well, the cast was great...and it was actually as funny as it looked. I give this movie an Easy -A!

Movie in Review: "The Devil"

3rd at the box office this week, and to me not at all a disappointment. It was entertaining, with humor and thrills, so I got my monies worth. Kind of wondered how they were gonna keep a movie with it's focus in an elevator interesting. The actors worked well  together, with the charactors and their backgrounds. Each character made you wonder what their story was, and that was provided in the film. The characters were funny, with the combo between the salesman and the old lady being my favorite. The millionaire's wife made me want to slap her, but I guess thats what she was there for. With these odd characters, the detective, and naration by the security guard, u actually wanted to know how the heck this movie was gonna end. It was thrilling enough to keep you on edge, but keep in mind with a PG-13 rating, they could only go but so far. I give it a B- (although I'm sure I'll get people who will disagree). But for me I got more than what I expected, and it came together well for me at the end. If you didn't before, this film may have you believing The Devil is real...
