Kevin Costner is back, and is getting more than his fair share of roles these days...Kudos! I love a good Costner movie, and an action movie makes it all the better. The trailer for this movie definitely sparked my interest. It looked like is was packed with great action scenes with kick ass Kevin Costner at the helm. The trailer had me feeling like it would be like watching Taken (the original, not that 2nd one)...but unfortunately it wasn't.
I honestly went in the theater knowing that I would walk out with at least giving this a decent review. However, 10min into the movie, my original opinion changed, and I was just hoping I could sit there through the rest of it...smh. This movie was a mess...who wrote this? There was nothing cohesive about the story. The only thing good about it was that Costner looked amazing and Hailee Steinfeld's performance as his daughter...she was great. There was some cute comedy, but that just made the movie more of an action comedy instead of an action thriller. As a matter of fact there was very little thrilling about this movie.
Unfortunately this movie had a case of the "too many things". There was the thing with his daughter, the thing with the bike, the thing with cancer, the thing with his mother's daughter, the thing with his daughter's boyfriend, the thing with the woman in the white wig, the thing with fainting...I could go on and on, but by the end of it nothing made sense...#Fail.
This movie had the potential to be way better than what it was. They should have made this movie an action comedy and made it more about Costner and his daughter because that was the best part of the movie. Unfortunately 2hrs of this isn't worth the ticket purchase. A bootleg would suit you better...D :(
