Movies in Review: "Transformers 3:Dark of the Moon"

Ummmmm...OPTIMUS!!!! Sorry I had to get that out. Can I say that I enjoyed this film...ENJOYED! Michael Bay you are the Man...smh. The best part about the transformer films to me is the humor. There was no shortage of that in this film. Shia Lebouf is as hilarious as always with his awkward, fast talking self. The best part about him though is his parents, who make an appearance. So glad that they have not been written out of the script because they are always a joy to see...Love them!

Now the big surprise was Megan Fox's replacement, model Rosie Whitely, who doesn't say a word in the trailer. Happy to say that she was definitely an upgrade. Not only was she beautiful, but she was a way better actress than Fox. Fox always seemed liked she was trying too hard to be sexy, with the new girl it was natural. I liked how they wrote her into the story, and wrote Fox out without making it seem unreal or unnatural. There were some other great additions too...McDreamy (Love u Patrick Dempsey)...Frances McDormand who has great sass, and I love everything that came out of her mouth! All of the other actors and actresses reprised their roles, although I wish Tyrese would die. He gets more lame with each film...seriously.

The action was great! For the life of me I can't understand why the Deceptacons are always retreating. They are way bigger, and seem way more powerful than the autobots. Please excuse me if I get his name wrong, but its a deceptacon called shockwave? OMG that thing is crazy! Wholly cow! I thought the fighting between the 2 groups could have been better, and the whole save the damsel in distress story was a bit annoying. It is always about a girl. Hope they change that up next time, because it ran too thick this go round. Lastly I would like to profess my love for Bumble Bee...I LOVE U BUMBLE BEE!!!!

All in all a really good holiday weekend movie. The kids are gonna love it and I think you will too. I went to a 2pm show on a weekday and the theatre was packed. Everyone left clapping. So its a must see and take the family with you!...A-

Movies in Review: "Bad Teacher"

Ummmmm...I don't really know what to say about this one, because I'm kind of on the fence. I absolutely loved Cameron Diaz's character, and Jason Segel was the most genuine out of the whole cast. I just can't figure out why I wasn't laughing so much. Cameron was a pisser, and her attitude was amusing to me, yet I still wasn't laughing that much. Maybe it was the writing, because it was definitely lacking something. One thing it wasn't lacking was advertising of Loubou's. Cameron Diaz's character was flashing her red bottoms in almost every scene. It was kind of distracting, because one can't help but to focus on a beautiful pair of shoes...Im just sayin.

One thing that I really disliked about the film was Justin Timberlake, who seemed like he was playing in an SNL skit the whole time. He just seemed fake, and over did it. And why does he have to sing in every film that he does now. We know you can sing...the question is, can you act...smh. This is the first film I actually disliked him, so maybe I should blame his lackluster performance on the direction...I'm just sayin. This film was just chuckle funny, not crying in your seats funny. You can wait for it on DVD, and just save your money for the release of Transformers coming out this weekend! Wooooohooooo!....oh sorry, I got a little excited...I give Bad Teacher a C+...

Movies in Review: "Cars 2"

It has been a sad couple of weekends for new movie releases, and unfortunately this weekend provided much of the same :/. Up first is "Cars 2", a movie I was excited about and totally looking forward to seeing because I enjoyed the first one so much. It actually didn't start out bad, and I liked the whole "007" theme... that was fun. I also liked that the cars this go round were traveling around the world, so it made for very interesting scenery. What ruined it for me was that there was just too much "Mater" in it. It was less about Lightning Mcqueen this go round, and totally about Mater. That would have been great, if I didn't find Mater to be so annoying. He was a bit much. I also don't remember Lightning Mcqueen sounding so much like Owen Wilson. It was hard to see the car, because whenever he spoke, all I could see was Owen Wilson's face. All the other cars in the previous film, weren't much of a factor in this one. I absolutely loved the "007" car and the purple agent car. They helped to keep me less aggravated with Mater. All in all, it was ok. If your kids are Mater fans, then they will love it. I didn't find it to be as appealing as the first, but it was alright...B-

Movies in Review" "Green Lantern"

This movie is a clear case of a film that had too much hype behind it that was not delivered in the film. Don't get me wrong, it was ok...but thats not good when you are expecting more than OK. I did not mind Ryan Reynold's as the green lantern, but I hated the use of  CGI for his suit. It just looked fake, which was annoying. With the development in technology, they could have made his suit look waaaayyy better than that...smh. The story was a bit dull, and I felt some parts did not have the opportunity to develop. Blake Lively was overacting, and I usually like her in films, but I hated every scene she was in in this one. The character she was playing just didn't suit her, and she didn't pull it off. The movie was filmed in 3D, but the effects were not all that exciting to say that it would be worth your time to spend the extra cash. This is a film that would have benefited more from a little less hype. If your dying to see it, don't say that I didn't warn you. It doesn't live up to previous comic book hero movies like "Thor", "Iron Man" (the 1st one), "Spiderman" (all except the 3rd one), or "X-Men" (all of them). I'm usually pleased with these types of films, but I left out of this one a little disappointed :/...C!

Movies in Review: "Mr. Popper's Penguins"

Hmmmmm....cute...ummmmm... funny...it was ok. Honestly this movie felt alot like "Liar Liar", except they gave Jim Carrey a different name and family. The penguins did make for more humor, but it wasn't enough to make this movie a total hit. I think I was a little annoyed because I felt like it's been done before. Kinda the same storyline with the happy ending at the end. The only element of surprise was wondering what outlandish joke or humorous act Jim Carrey was going to perform. He had some funny moments. The ending was crazy, because I felt like I was in a live version of "Happy Feet"...smh. I don't have too much to say about it. It's a family film, and was enjoyable to watch. It's nothing you would rush out to go see. I'd suggest you wait for the dvd...C+

Movies in Review: "Super 8"

Opening releases was kinda light this weekend with Super 8 being the only wide released film. I can't say that I was pressed to see this movie, just because the trailer didn't really catch my attention at all. It was a friend of mine who seemed to be anticipating its release that got me a little curious about it. So I went, and here's my review.

It actually wasn't all that bad. The best part about this film were the young actors, one being Dakota Fannings sister, Elle Fanning (who is just as great of an actress in her own right). The story line was just ho hum but the kids who are cast in the film help to totally overshadow the lackluster story. They are filming a short story themselves for a film competition, and can I tell you they are absolutely hilarious. You won't stop laughing at these tween to teenage kids as they bicker at each other amongst all the drama going on around them. But they are smart, and witty as they take advantage of all the oppotunities going around them to be able to make a nice film in the end for themselves. The movie was cool, and would probably be more appreciated as a matinee. Like I said, the best part about this film were the kids so if you go, you will definitely want to stay for the credits at the end, which helped to boost my original rating of this film to a  B+!...

Movies in Review: "The Tree of Life"

Sorry for the late post on this one, but I was sick last weekend, and was not able to review all the movies I wanted to. However I made an effort to see this one although the trailer completely turned me off, and actually made no sense. But this movie has been getting such high marks, 3 stars from movie reviewers, and even an 86% Fresh on rotten tomatoes. All I have to say after seeing this film is that you guys are lucky you have me, because this movie was a piece of Sh%t! Well, not totally, but for the most part.

There was hardly any dialogue in this film, and anything that was said, was spoken in a whisper. This movie was over 2hrs Long! Are you serious with the whispering?! Come on! There was hardly any acting either. A huge part of this movie was mostly imagery...SMH. Now don't get me wrong. The imagery was absolutely beautiful, but was more suited for the National Geographic channel. There was a part in the movie where for 30+ min there was nothing but opera singing and imagery...wtf. It was so bad, during that part I saw a couple walk out, and the people behind me were complaining about the lack of dialogue in the film. Yeah not a good sign that this movie is a hit. The directing in the film was all over the place. The story is being told in flashes...it was just weird.

It is my conclusion that reviewers were paid to give this film high marks, because this is nothing that you would actually want to pay your money to see in a theatre. This film is more suited for home viewing, and its something you actually have to be in to in order to sit through it...horrible...D-

Movies in Review: "X-Men First Class"

No questions asked...I loved it. Why did I love it? Because it cleared up so much. Wow who knew that Professor X & Magneto were friends. It was great to see how Magneto became who he is and to see how his and Professor X's relationship evolved. I enjoyed finding out how each received their names. The story was written well. Kevin Bacon was great, and I had no idea of the tragedy Magneto went through as a young boy. I thought James McAvoy played a wonderful young Professor X. I don't believe they could have picked  a better actor after seeing his performance on screen...I think I love him now...lol

It was cool how they had the present X-Men make spot appearances, like Wolverine & the older Mystique. Emma Frost & The Beast were great characters that I wish were in the current X-Men line up. It's funny how some of the mutants age like Professor X and Magneto, and how others don't like Wolverine...but whatever. It was a really good movie. So if your a Marvel fan you won't want to pass on this one. It ranks as my favorite now in the X-men series...A!
